Story: Best friends Mia and Mel (Tiffany Haddish and Rose Byrne) are living their best lives running their own cosmetics company that they have built from scratch. Unfortunately, they are on their heads financially, and the prospect of a large offer to buy a notorious cosmetic industry titan Claire Luna (Salma Hayek) is too tempting to pass up, jeopardizing Mel and Mia’s friendship. The beauty business is about to get ugly.

Like A Boss Movie 2020 Download Full HD

Two best friends who have always been able to mix business and friendship are finally threatened by their link in Like a Boss, by Miguel Arteta, a light but often pleasant comedy that puts Rose Byrne and Tiffany Haddish unexpectedly well matched against Salma Hayek.

Having received some praise for his performance at Artetriz Beatriz at Dinner, Hayek is a disappointment here, directed towards the great villainy and the cartoon physicist that exist in a world apart from the credible sharpness of his co-stars. Quite fun for much of its runtime, the film feels as if it simply runs out of steam in its third act, conforms to a lazy and complacent resolution and seems happy to have reached the 83-minute finish line. Those who have marveled at Haddish and Byrne in some of their previous support roles expect each to get a leading vehicle in good faith, but this team gives each one more space to shine than usual.

Mia (Haddish) and Mel (Byrne) have been inseparable since high school, Mia’s family took care of the latter when her mother broke the law. Now housemates, they run a small but much appreciated cosmetics store that bears their names. They mix their own formulas, package them in truculent gift packages as a “One Night Kit” (a success, as we are told) and use two of the colorful characters that are normally only seen in romantic comedies: Haughty Barrett, played until the top for Emmy-winning star Billy Porter; and Sydney by Jennifer Coolidge, whose dialogue strives for the kind of outrageous outrage that Coolidge has specialized in for 20 years.

Mia is the creative one; Mel keeps the books in order. Or try: She has been protecting Mia from the knowledge that her business has a debt of almost half a million dollars, and something must change soon. Enter Josh (Karan Soni), the ingenious yes-man of makeup mogul Claire Luna (Hayek). Josh summons the members to a meeting, where Luna offers to pay off all her debts in exchange for a 51 percent stake in the business. When Mia refuses to sell what the two have built, they settle for a compromise: Luna will take 49 percent and only get the majority in the unlikely case: how could something like this happen? – That Mia and Mel end their relationship. Before the women are even in the parking lot, the Luna viper is plotting ways to make them hate each other.
He does it by surprising Mel with his commercial acumen (Mia could not be less impressed) and forcing partners to doubt their values. When M&M presents a new line whose marketing will revolve around supportive friendships and inner beauty, Luna insists that they focus on what their industry really is: “Inspire ugly people to buy their way to beauty.” As an example, he introduces two men whose own line of products, called “Get Some,” are so blatantly misogynist that they can hardly be useful as satire.

Given his success in his field, Luna has a strange approach to his own appearance. Especially in his first scene, the contrast between skin color, dyed hair and orange dress screams for a makeover. (In one of Sydney’s good lines, he criticizes her as “the angry carrot”). But it is excellent for sowing discord, and soon friends are nervous.

Unfortunately, everyone involved seems to understand that this movie only creaks when Haddish and Byrne feed on each other’s energy, even when that means Mia is trying to push women beyond an obstacle that Mel, trying to please everyone , no I don’t see yet. Then Boss truncates the conflict: we get some physical comedy in which Mel sabotages Mia, followed by a scene in which they publicly exploit each other. Once they have finished their relationship, the film shows a trio of mini scenes in which friends urge them to reconsider. Few romantic comedies have been so eager to rejoin their stars, and it happens here without any friction.

The less said about the sequence in which they face publicly against Claire Luna, the better. It is unlikely in almost every aspect, even the new product they present at a gala of Luna hosts. His invention does not seem to be the stroke of genius suggested by the image, as it seems nothing conducive to the way women really use cosmetics. Not being a consumer of makeup, I can’t say that with authority, and neither, I suspect, screenwriters Adam Cole-Kelly and Sam Pitman can do it.
